Our Take:

Tailor Brands began in 2015 as a company focused on helping new companies create logos and branding materials. They have since expanded their business to include legal filing services. We don’t recommend their legal filing services for most companies because we think you can get better service for a cheaper price with companies like ZenBusiness or our recommended tool Bizee (Incfile) that are solely focused on online legal services.

Tailor Brands

Tailor Brands offers branding and logo making services in addition to a business filing service.

Tailor Brands Overview:

Tailor Brands was founded in 2015 by Yali Saar, Tom Lahat, and Nadav Shatz with the goal of using artificial intelligence to automate parts of the branding and marketing process for small businesses. The three co-founders came from backgrounds in copywriting, design, and technology, and their initial product focused on using AI to generate logos for businesses. Over time, Tailor Brands expanded its offerings to become a one-stop platform providing a range of services like logo design, marketing materials, social media, and legal filing support to help small businesses launch and scale their operations. The company has raised over $70 million in funding to date, and is currently onboarding around 700,000 new users per month as it continues expanding its capabilities to empower entrepreneurs.

Reviews ⭐

Typically, we put less emphasis on public review sites, but for this category, many of the options have thousands of reviews on TrustPilot, and the process for incorporating is typically very standardized. This increased our trust in their ratings, and the ‘wisdom of the crowd’, so we’ve taken them into account in our recommendations, but with one big caveat. As we dug into the TrustPilot scores, we noticed some discrepancies. One tool had one 5-star review, but their Trustpilot rating was 3.7. How could this be? We found that the TrustPilot score takes other factors into account like the age of the company and responding to negative reviews. We’ve calculated the TrustPilot score based on a simple weighted average and not taken the headline TrustPilot score. As with all our guides, we’ve tried to be guided by the data.

As you can see in the chart below, Tailor Brands has a TrustPilot score of 4.2 (with over 6k reviews). In looking at the reviews, we note that a lot of the reviews are for their branding and logo services. Unfortunately, many of the negative reviews are for their legal filing services.

Core service pricing 💰

Comparing pricing between business formation services is a difficult task. Many companies will charge high add-on fees for things that other companies will include standard.

When it comes to comparing prices, you should be aware of two aspects: the cost to file your business, and the cost to maintain your business (Registered Agent fees). This section will focus on the cost to file your company and the next section will focus on the cost to maintain your company.

When filing your company, we view a couple of elements in addition to the core filing as essential: an Operating Agreement, EIN, and the first year’s Registered Agent service. The charts below compare the total price of filing across each of the major filing services including these essential elements.

You’ll see that Tailor Brands is significantly more expensive than many competitors. They charge for their Registered Agent service in addition to an EIN number and Operating Agreement. With Tailor Brands it will be more expensive to file and maintain your business than our recommended tool Bizee (Incfile).

Ongoing services 🛠️

The major ongoing service related to your business filing is Registered Agent services. Many companies include the first year of Registered Agent services for free in their offerings and then charge steep fees after year one. This is an easy way for these companies to make additional money because it’s very easy to fall back on the business you filed your company with for ongoing Registered Agent services.

For Tailor Brands, it will cost $199 to use their Registered Agent services. This is more expensive than many competitors including Northwest Registered Agent and our recommended tool Bizee (Incfile).

Turnaround times 🔁

When comparing processing times, there are two elements to consider. The first is how long it takes the service to file with the State for you once you have provided the necessary information. Then there will be the time that it takes for the State governments to process your business filing paperwork. This typically takes 1-2 weeks but depends on the State where you are filing. The government processing time will be the same no matter which service you use.

Tailor Brands turnaround time is up to 14 business days. Unfortunately this is slower than many tools including Northwest Registered Agent and our recommended tool Bizee (Incfile).

Customer Service 📞

Tailor Brands offers phone support by calling 888-355-5955 which is available Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. EST and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST in addition to email support which can be reached at contact@tailorbrands.com.

Business bank account

Tailor Brands also offers a business bank account through a partnership with Mercury. This is our recommended business bank account. You can read our full guide on business bank accounts but the TLDR is that we recommend Mercury. They don’t charge a monthly fee, have the highest FDIC insurance amounts, and industry leading integrations.

Tailor Brands Pricing:

One of our biggest complaints with Tailor Brands is that their pricing for LLC filing is not very transparent. In order to learn their pricing, you must go through the signup process. They charge $49 for a basic filing plus a State filing fee (which typically range from $50 to $200 and depend on the State where you are filing). Tailor Brands will then charge additional fees for items we view as essential for filing your business.

Additional fees:

  • Registered Agent Service ($199 per year)
  • Employee Identification Number ($99)
  • Operating Agreement ($29)

All in it will cost $376 plus state filing fees to register your business with Tailor Brands. We think there are better and cheaper alternatives.
